Tasting Aldi 2003 Viña Decana Reserva – part 2
So…the decanting didn’t seem to make a huge amount of difference to this, so probably not necessary. There’s a pretty good flavour to this – as described before, oak, spicey, as I guessed- a little tart, but good with food – it managed the fat of the duck well. So, no great depth, but well worth the £4.99, and probbaly considerably more. Try it yourself!

Found some Vina Decana Crianza at ALDI Whitehaven yesterday.
It’s (was) a 2005 Cab Sauv in a wired bottle at £3.99!so I guess it’s from the same producer. It drank well, (everything was still there) but we both thought it was past it’s best and had probably faded quite a bit. I would have thought a 2005 should still be drinking well. Bit mystified but I have to say from my experience ALDI seem to specialise in disposing job lots of poor stuff at cheap prices. Can’t complain at £3.99 though.

Yes – I saw the same stuff in Cockermouth – nearly mistook it for the Reserva, as the price labels were rather a long way from the bottles. Glad it was acceptable!
