A simple story of wine

Away in Cambridge

I’m working in Cambridge this week, and staying in a holiday cottage. The owner leaves a welcome package in the fridge of bacon, sausages, eggs, better, milk etc. So, this evening I’ve had a meal of all of those, with some fried potatoes. (Plus some game pate and toast as a starter!) Visited the nearby Tesco to search out a suitable bottle to drink with it. The disappointment was that there was a very large selection of red wines below £5, but very little ‘higher quality’ offerings. I ended up buying the only bottle of Cono Sur Reserva Pinot Noir – Casablanca Valley, that was left! Fairly sophisticated in style and it went well with the grill. Certainly not much left!

  1. Hi Laurie
Cambridge and the outlying areas are a great place to visit, been there many times.
Tescos (in my opinion)must be one of the worst supermarkets to have to find decent wine in these days (excluding Peiroth – another story! anybody else had the Peiroth experience?).
Make the most of it down there!
